Boho Chic Without the Hobo Eek!

Boho chicTHE WINTER BEGS FOR US TO DRESS IN LAYERS-BOOTS, SCARVES, PEACOATS, MAXIS, AND MORE…GO BOHO, NOT HOBO
Bohemian chic was hugely popular many years ago, and while a challenge to perfectly execute, it remains a chic and really a rather intelligent way to dress for these chilly, winter months ahead. Layering with boho flair should be a look of glamour, couture and sophistication but it has to be done carefully. It can be done flawlessly. However, Bohos beware; layers can lead to lumpy, loosely fitted clothes that channel the ghosts of Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie styles and mishaps of their pasts.
For some, the word bohemian some may inspire images of long, flowing skirts, loosely fitted tunics and tops paired with an unsightly top, finished with an oversized trench coat and 20 foot long scarf. This “look” is neither chic, stylish, nor daring; certainly not acceptable in usual office, social and other networking occasions. Most layers need to be form fitting, flattering to ones figure, and each piece should complement the others of the ensemble.
Examples are endless, wardrobe options unlimited and designers have stepped up for the challenge of helping us wrap, and unwrap ourselves throughout the day.
Pencil waisted, narrowly cut trousers worn with a sleeveless, silk blouse can be layered and accessorized to catch eyes and demand attention. Vibrant and deep colors have been added to all wardrobe staples this season. High waisted, narrow legged trousers in cherry reds, dark purples and mint greens are the talk of runways, and add a much needed color-pop during the cold, cloudy winter days. High waisted trousers, and pencil cut skirts are perfectly paired with a subtle beige, silk and sleeveless blouse, joined by a wrap sweater and complemented by a long scarf. This office-chic look is finished with a form fitted peacoat, and the vast array of footwear this season has inspired in designers. Ankle-high, suede booties from Manolos to Banana Republic are available in round or a pointed toe, a flat or heeled sole and look incredible with black tights.
Looking for a softer, yet still sexy look? Tea-length skirts topped with your favorite V necked fitted tee, or Ralph Lauren polo are a classic look that the bohemian look begs to shake up. Layer with a cardigan wrap sweater, which boast chunky collars and seams. This look does not shroud the entire form, as some boho mishaps do. It allows versatility while shopping, having lunch or on a date while also allowing your curves to show off. Add tights, or an opaque hose to the ensemble, and then the choice is yours; high cut boots or high heels?
Footwear Fun-the options are nearly endless in the chillier months!
Boots are an exciting accessory for winter, and nobody is required to a single style! Suede, flat-bottomed boots that reach above calf are a simple, yet stylish addition to a formal outfit, or a perfectly trendy and comfortable addition to jeans, buttoned cardigan under a distressed bomber jacket and a wool hat. Heeled boots also add a sexy statement to any ensemble-watch the ice of course, but a heeled boot or bootie is a must-have when layering to fit. Ankle, calf or knee high, boots with stilettos, exaggerated espadrilles, or kitten heeled booties will catch eyes paired with any event’s ensemble.Boho Chic Style
